Clothes Helping Kids, Inc.
Grant Application for New Mexico Programs
2008
Clothes Helping Kids, Inc., a nonprofit organization established in 1999, collects used clothing and household goods. The net income generated from the resale of these donations of used goods will be awarded in grants this year to community programs in New Mexico only and to the Save the Children Federation.
The Board of Directors of Clothes Helping Kids, Inc. reviews the applications and selects the grantees on a competitive basis, focusing on community programs that work directly with children and youth, address educational needs, health issues, human services, the environment or traditional arts and culture. These fields of interest, singly or in combination, create the building blocks for strong community programs that support the developmental needs of children and youth. Clothes Helping Kids welcomes applications from established organizations seeking limited funding to support ongoing or new initiatives. In 2008, we expect to award individual grants up to $5,000 to recipient programs. The Board of Directors evaluates and approves grants to those applicants that best address the organization’s overall priorities.
Applications from New Mexico programs will be evaluated on: focus on children and youth; demonstrated need for CHK funding; the geographic location of activities; the capacity to implement and administer the program; the impact and effectiveness of the program; and the ability to evaluate and report on program outcomes. The Board of Directors exercises full authority for all grant decisions.
Grant recipients, once they receive the funds, must report on the expenditure of the grant and provide an evaluative summary report on the results of the program. Grants will be made for a one-year period. Any funds not expended within the year for the specific purpose of the grant must be returned to Clothes Helping Kids, Inc. and cannot be reallocated to other uses without the prior written approval of Clothes Helping Kids.
Grants will not be made:
- to individuals,
- for political or religious purposes,
- to retire indebtedness,
- for payment of interest or taxes,
- for annual campaigns, endowments, or emergency funding,
- to influence legislation or elections,
- to private foundations,
- to organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
